Just the typical stuff for the 1970's. Going to school, enjoying our summer vacation by playing softball, swimming in the river and sneaking a smoke while we were down there. We thought we were smart smoking down by the river, figuring the air and breezes would take all the smell of smoke away. Especially if we went in for dip after the cigarette. We weren't though. Our folks knew we were smoking. They could smell it on our breath. And back then, it was much easier for a 14 year old to buy smokes. And a pack of 25 cigarettes cost $.80 cents back in 1974. One fond memory of going for a swim with my buds was catching a couple of girls "Skinny Dipping". The girls shall remain nameless. It was one of the highlights of "Summer Vacation" that year. Getting a part time job was something some of us did as well. Some of my favorite movies from the 1970's are; The Sting Uptown Saturday Night, Airport, The Poseidon Adventure, The Eagle Has Landed, Jaws, American Graffiti I really don't remember the 1970's being like That 70s Show but everyone who grew up in the 1970's remembers at least one friend who had a father like "Red". I got my driver's licence at 18. I wasn't really in a hurry to get my licence. It was Mum and Dad who thought it was time for your webmaster (yes we had hair like this in the 1970"s) to have his licence. The 1980's was when I became more independent. I moved to Halifax and went to school. It was in Halifax I met two wonderful people. I am still friends with both of them today. Linda has moved here to Calgary from Halifax. She lives a few houses away from me. Her son Michael lives in Windsor, Ontario and is doing well with his family there. I moved to study to be a travel agent, but somehow managed to start a 20 year career in the Motion Picture Industry as a Projectionist. I worked for B&L Theatres at the Capitol Theatre in Antigonish from 1982 until 1989. I then moved onto Empire Theatres and had a really happy time with the Company especially in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. But it was time for a change and so I decided it was time for the cats and I to leave Nova Scotia and to quote Horace Greeley, "Go West Young Man" and move to Alberta Calgary in particular.
